The ID Grind Machinist at Regal Rexnord in East Los Angeles, CA is responsible for efficiently producing parts while meeting the specified drawings and planning requirements. This role involves setting up and operating grinding machines to grind various shapes and contours onto surfaces according to blueprint specifications. The machinist will also dress and change wheels as needed for different finish requirements. The role requires experience, judgment, and the ability to plan and accomplish tasks with some supervision.

Main duties include:

• Complete set-ups with some supervision or assistance.
• Responsible for all phases of part operation set-up to achieve first article acceptance.
• Perform and maintain accurate in-process quality inspections and record keeping.
• Identify and recommend process improvements to reduce part quality variations.
• Improve processes, procedures, and eliminate waste where possible.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Understanding of machine tool accuracies and tool offsets.
• Knowledge of cutting wheel feeds, speeds, and wheel life, especially for aerospace grinding.
• Ability to follow verbal instructions and interpret blueprints and quality requirements.
• Strong communication skills to interact positively with employees and management.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (heavier loads with assistance) and stand for long periods of time.
• Experience with AS9100, 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma is preferred.
• Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident) as required by ITAR regulations. Applicants must meet State Department policies to be eligible for this position.
